Charles Bryan Autobiography

(I will expand on this as time permits)

Born in Freeport, IL in 1964 and raised on farms and in small towns until about 12 years of age.  Graduated from Yuba City High School, CA in 1983 and joined the Air Force for 4 years.  Afterwards, acquired a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering. He fell in love with California and would rather not live elsewhere.

At an early age, Charles started questioning reality. “How does the universe work?” He would ask questions in church, Charles was told not to ask such questions, especially around the other children. This only sparked him into finding answers elsewhere. Thus began the study for the “true nature of the universe.” Some of the concepts learned are depicted in the movie “Shadow Beings”.

The urge to make movies was in him at the early age of 8 as well. Up until the military, he wrote short sci-fi stories and built miniatures, drew diagrams, and created languages and histories that corresponded to elements from those stories. In that whole time, yearning to make movies that could not be realized in the life dealt to him.

Thirty-two years later, with the advent of digital video and the existence of the Community Media Center in Santa Rosa, CA, Charles finally realized his dream of making a movie. The money barrier was no longer an issue since equipment and facilities could be “checked-out” instead of “rented”. Volunteers joined the production on deferred payment and all the exterior shots were on public land. This is Charles’ first script and first movie. No film school, no movie short, just 32 years of brewing the reality.

This movie, Shadow Beings, is a stepping-stone to a lost dream. A dream that had only one desire… to be born.
